ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION GENERAL INFO
ED is a condition when a man can’t get and sustain an erection during sexual stimulation or intercourse. It is estimated that more than 40% of men experience ED before the age of 40, and more than 70% of men in their 60s have a chronic condition.
ED is so common, but yet more than 60% of men refuse to admit that they have a problem and hope that ED will go away on its own. Unfortunately, time is not a cure when it comes to ED, and it has to be addressed ASAP.
HOW AND WHY DOES ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION HAPPEN?
Your brain and nervous system trigger an erection via sensory or psychological stimulation, also known as arousal. The signals from your brain and specific nerves make the penis muscles (corpora cavernosa) relax, allowing more blood to flow. Almost immediately after the penis muscle relaxation and the blood flow into corpora cavernosa, a membrane called tunica albuginea traps the blood inside. The increased pressure makes the penis harder. These physical and psychological processes are called an erection, and if something goes wrong in this process, the erection is impossible.
CIALIS PHARMACOKINETICS
Cialis and its active ingredient Tadalafil is a PDE5 inhibitor that blocks the phosphodiesterase 5 enzyme. The PDE5 enzyme is responsible for the cGMP breakdown. More cGMP concentration leads to vasodilation and an increased blood flow to the penis.
Please note that Cialis and other PDE5 inhibitors work only if physical or psychological sexual stimulation is present.
CIALIS PHARMACODYNAMICS
Cialis becomes active within 20-50 minutes after administration and remains active in the body for more than 36 hours. Please note that Cialis is not affected by food and can be taken after a meal or on an empty stomach. Viagra effect, for example, can be lowered and delayed by a high-fat meal; that is why Viagra is recommended only on an empty stomach.
CIALIS AND BENIGN PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA (BPH)
In 2011 Cialis was approved by FDA as an effective treatment for signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Multiple clinical trials demonstrated that 5 mg/day of Cialis significantly improved BPH symptoms and reduced the IPSS scores.
CIALIS DOSAGES
Please start with a dosage of 10 mg, approximately one hour before sexual activity. If not satisfied with the 10 mg of Cialis results, please increase the dosage to 25 mg.
